In Villaputzu holy week rituals begin with the benediction of the palms and olive branches during Palm Sunday. Procession of “Via Crucis” is characterized by a strong emotional intensity: it takes place on Friday evening and believers visit all the crucifixes placed in the most important sides of Villaputzu. For Easter (Sunday morning), believers forms two different processions with the statues of Our Lady and Jesus Christ in order to get “S’Incontru”: the processions get together in the main square of Villaputzu for celebrating the Resurrection of Christ.
