“Su Marmuri” caves are in the little Village of Ulassai, inside the natural area named Tacchi of Ogliastra. The Italian word Tacchi means “heels”: this natural monuments are limestone rocks which owe their name to their heel-looking shape. The caves are famous for their majesty and fascination, inside it is possible recognize several “halls” with wonderful concretions: “Grande Sala”, “Sala dell’Organo”, “Sala del Cactus” and charming lakes.
Su Marmuri is considered one the biggest caves in Europe: the main stalagmite is high 20 metres, the temperature is usually of 10° C (it is better visit the caves with a t-shirt).
